Maria Grosz-Ngaté is the associate director of the African Studies Program at Indiana University. An anthropologist with long-term research experience in Mali and Senegal, her work has focused on social and cultural transformations with an emphasis on marriage, gender, migration, and religion. She has published articles on these topics and co-edited Gendered Encounters (1997) with Omari Kokole. She is also a co-editor of the 4th edition of Africa with John Hanson and Patrick O’Meara (Indiana University Press 2014).
